The Story of a Photographer


HI! I’M FAWN Mellanie, A PORTRAIT, LIFESTYLE AND STUDIO PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN SOUTHERN MICHIGAN.

I have dreamed of being a photographer since the age of 9! I would always have one of those polaroid cameras with me taking pictures of my family and friends. I did not get serious until my first born turned 3 years old. I adored taking pictures of her! I decided I am finally going to follow through with my dreams and turn this hobby I once had into a profitable business. I knew I wanted this to be my career. I studied the art and took courses in different lighting situations and editing techniques. I have now been a full time photographer for the past 7 years and I can not imagine anything else I would rather do! I absolutly love capturing your stories through my lens and I am always so excited for the next adventure!

I am known for my creativity! Most of my props are hand made, or restored by myself. I have a lovely selection of props to coordinate my sessions with. I also have a beautiful client wardrobe available.

I see beauty everywhere I go. I want to capture every beautiful moment in time, and create a lifelong memory! I would love nothing more than to capture all your precious smiles and happy moments! There is something so magical about the way families interact with each other! Its pure beauty!

When I don’t have a camera in my hand, you will find me at home spending time with my 3 beautiful children Jaelynn, Haven, & Leland! Otherwise I am at the softball fields, or restoring antiques to add to my home decor! I enjoy camping, hiking, and nature. I try to kayak on every river I can find, and I love exploring every place/ town in Michigan!!

I believe photography is art. I focus on capturing mood, expression, emotion, composition and detail through my lens. I’m always looking to capture a photo in a unique way. I make sure I get my clients natural expressions! I make sure I capture every detail. I get inspired when I see anything rustic or tattered. My style has more earthy tones and a moody vibe. Rustic orange, olive greens and browns are my go to colors! The most important thing I look for in any kind of shoot is natural LIGHT!! One of my favorite quotes …“Light makes photography.
